Use A Wiki

Wiki's are a dynamic web page system that allows all users to edit any of the content of the web page. For instance, upon reading any article if you spot something that is incorrect or if you can expand on the topic there is an edit button at the top or at the side of the page. If you click to edit, then you will have access to edit any of the articles content.

You can create a user account with us which has many benefits including the ability to track your contributions to the site, but no acccount is needed to edit the page.

This system works because people are constantly correcting others' errors. Also versions of each article are kept, so that if someone deletes or defaces an article in an inappropriate way it can be easily corrected.

Creating an Article is Easy

There are three ways to create an article.

The first and easiest way that we recommend is typing the article title that you're searching for into the search box and clicking go. If the article doesn't already exist, then there will be a link to create the article that you searched for. This way, you're not accidentally duplicating already existing articles.

The second way to create a new article page is to type a non existing page address into your browsers address bar. For instance, if you wanted to create an article about fudge cookies, you'd type www.wannawiki.com/wiki/index.php/Fudge_Cookies into your browsers address bar (use underscores for spaces). This will take you to a page with that title that is blank. Click the edit button at the top of the page to add your content.

The third is to edit a current article, add a link to a non existing page, save the page, then click the new non existing page link. Too add a link in an article that you are editing type [[your article name here]]. This link will appear in red since it points to a non-existing page. Once this link is clicked, it will take you to a new article page and allow you to edit it.

Uploading Images for Articles

If you have images to accompany an article, they can be uploaded by going to Special Pages (a link in your toolbox at the left hand side of the screen under the search bar). Once in Special Pages, there is a link in the list to Upload an Image. Once the image is uploaded it will generate a link that you can place in your article for the image to appear. Just copy and paste the link into your edited article.

Please make sure the image does not violate any copyright laws. Also please make sure that the image is compressed to not waste our bandwidth.

Formatting Your Wiki Article

To format your article, you can use some HTML but it is recommended that you use the wiki specific commands. They ae easy to learn and a quick summary can be found at Formatting in Wannawiki.
